The Annual Brownfield High School Band Supper is set for 4 7:30 p m Friday Aug 30 in the Oak Grove Cafeteria before the Brownfield Shallowater football game. Tickets are 7 per person and available from any band member or at the door.
The Brownfield Athletic Booster Club will meet Thursday August 15 at 7 00 pm in the north parking lot of the Brownfield Church of Christ on Lubbock Road. Members will place red streamers around town to show support for the Cubs.
Brownfield K-5 invites students and parents to Meet Your Teacher Night this Thursday Aug 15 from 5 00 to 6 00 at Colonial Heights and 6 00 to 7 00 at Oak Grove Intermediate. Classroom rosters will be posted and students should not bring supplies until the first day of school.
The board approves selling 10 acres to Southwest Guar for $875 per acre. BIDCorp will seek a grant from USDA or Texas Capital Fund to cover $139,000 for sewer and water at the site. If the grant is not approved in time BIDCorp will fund the utility work. Target completion set for April 30, 2003.
The Brownfield Golf Club held weekly events on Aug 6 and Aug 8. Herbie Marchbanks led the Tuesday one man scramble with 30.4, followed by Phil o 32.6 and Chris Hamm 33.0, while Aline Prather was fourth at 33.6. Thursday’s scramble finished with Ken Sealey Leath McClure and Stan McNutt first at 30, Seaton Garcia Gonzales second at 32, and Densmore Barnett Bradshaw third with an incomplete score.
Women's Protective Services of Lubbock will host its 3rd annual Tractor Raffle on August 17 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. It is the group’s main fundraiser aiding nearly 5,000 women and children in 12 counties, including Terry County.
