Wellman trustees raise tax rate by 12 cents

The Wellman Independent School District board of trustees increased the property tax rate by 12 cents at Monday night’s meeting. The rate rose from 57 cents to 69 cents per $100 of valuation, with officials saying the increase was decided to fund district needs.

Rain brings needed moisture across Terry County farms

Rainfall over the weekend varied across Terry County with Meadow Farmers Co op Gin reporting 0.7 to 2.0 inches, including many at two inches. Needmore Gin in the northwest saw just over an inch. Pool Gin half an inch. Tokio Co op in the west 0.8 inch. Johnson Gin reported 1.5 inches while Foster Gin in the south had only a light sprinkle. West Gin in town recorded 1.5 inches. Wild superintendent Raymond Lusk noted the rain helped but kept irrigation modest. Chamber hosts Fishing Journey at Gillham Pond Saturday

Meadow Special Election On One Percent Sales Tax

A special election is set for Meadow residents from 7 am to 7 pm this Saturday to decide on instituting a one percent sales tax. Voting will be at Meadow City Hall.
