Dr. Sherman Hope and nurse Murva Stallings recall 35 years at their Brownfield clinic now owned by St. Mary Hospital. They began Aug 8 1961, moved to Tohoka Road in 1971, and still see generations of families. Stallings notes computer records saved time since hand methods. Both have no plans to retire.

Brownfield CISD will welcome 31 new teachers and administrators for the 1996 97 school year, while 31 staff members resigned. Superintendent Dr. John Dosher cites normal turnover from moves, promotions, retirements, and family needs as reasons. High School will add 12, Middle School 11, Intermediate 2, and Oak Grove and Colonial Elementary 3 each.

Union Board to host public forum on consolidation plan
Union ISD Board of Trustees will hold a public question and answer forum during the 8 p.m. meeting in the school library to discuss the proposed two district consolidation with Wellman. Early voting continued last week with a final day Tuesday and voting Saturday August 10. The plan would move all Union students to Wellman classrooms for the 1997 98 school year if approved by both districts.

Judge Moore sentences five in 21st District Court
Judge Moore handed down sentences to five subjects Monday after pleas in 21st District Court. Bradley Dauel Fitzgerald pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and received a four year sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice with probation for four years, a 365 day license suspension, and Terry County confinement including 10 days in jail and 160 hours of community service.
