State cuts BISD funds drastically
Brownfield School District will lose nearly half a million dollars in state funds for 1985 86. Superintendent Don Hendley cited a Texas Education Agency letter showing a 447 600 drop from 1984 85, due to HB 72 funding formula shifts favoring larger districts. He warned of added 400 000 costs to implement 72 and noted mineral valuations up 50 million may keep BISD’s tax rate below state average.
