Gibbons sees possibility for good crop year
District Conservationist Donald Gibbons spoke with The Brownfield News about Terry County planting prospects in late April. He noted many planters active, mostly peanuts, and said moisture near four to five inches in parts of the county supports good dryland and irrigated potential, while cautioning that pests and drought linger and farmers differ in timing. He also discussed cover crops, conservation tillage, and possible acres of alternative crops like guar, greens, and wheat for grain, with optimism rising when rain occurs.
