Grant for Summer Head Start Funded in Region 16
The Office of Economic Opportunity announces a Head Start grant of 196 000 for Region 16 Amarillo Center serving Terry Floyd Crosby Cochran and surrounding counties. Federal share 147 392 plus 135 365 new funds and 12 027 reprogrammed funds with local share 49 508 will serve 1358 children in 84 classes across 34 centers. Brownfield requests 22 500 federal funds and 8 500 in kind to support the local Head Start program serving about 125 children each summer.

Morris Named Western Area Operations Manager
GenTel Morris will become western area Operations manager with offices in Brownfield effective May 4. He replaces Melvin Jennings who earlier this year was named southern area Operations manager with offices in Dickinson. Morris will coordinate and direct telephone operations.

Third Annual Art Exhibit Closes With Cash Awards
The Brownfield Art Association concludes its third annual exhibit and sale today at Dale's Furniture Building from 1 to 5 PM. Eloise Brown wins 125 dollars for Last Crossing and best in show, while Pat Krahn of Lubbock secures 125 dollars for Prairie Travelers. Juror John Meigs from San Patricio, NM praised the works as display shelves fill with silent auction items and crafts.

Pinch-Hitter Seminar Teaches In-Flight Emergency Steps
