A tornado scare triggers chaos as a dog hiccups and a group crowds into a bathtub for safety. Paula links to the storm, and awkward closeness follows with a joke about commuting from Lubbock.
Photo shows a storeroom ruin with walls and rubble after a nearby tornado visited the Morris Bearden farm just after noon Thursday. A power pole was uprooted, leaving the Bearden family without electricity for about six hours.
During a called session Thursday morning Terry County Commissioners approved three Coleman Williams Parks Board proposals for Coleman Park tennis courts. A new chain link fence will enclose all four courts followed by resurfacing the two east courts and installing mercury vapor lights for the east court. Total estimated cost about 9000 dollars funded from the Park Board fund.
The account notes a tornado causing destruction with heavy hail and about an inch of rain. A power pole was uprooted and electric wires wrapped around objects and the Bearden home. Mrs Bearden recalls inspecting a roof carried to the pasture and skidded then blown back in the opposite direction.
