Lions Easter Egg Hunt Set On Hill West Of Town
The Lions Club will host an Easter Egg Hunt on the hill west of the Jaycee show barn at 3 p m Saturday with four or five grand prize eggs hidden and a separate area for tots. Other items note DeWitt Staf ford and Emil Yous Grady Elder attended a Chamber of Commerce convention in Eastland, rain, parade photos for Life magazine, and local civic notes including a Brownfield Shriner delegation trip and a Legion hall meeting.

May 3 Deadline Near For Terry County Candidates
Terry county voters face a May 3 filing deadline for the primary ballot. The certified poll tax list shows 3,019 payers for 1954, down from 4,020 in the 1952 general election. Exemptions are estimated around 300.

Final Rites Held For S. R. Boatman
Funeral services were held for S. R. Boatman 77 a retired farmer and longtime Brownfield resident who died Monday after a short illness. Rev. Howard Smith officiated at the Brownfield Funeral Home chapel with burial in Brownfield cemetery. Survived by a brother and several nieces and nephews. he had been married twice. Pallbearers named.

Frances Bell Parent Teachers Association organized to honor Mrs W A Bell who helped form the first Brownfield P T A in 1910. Brownfield High School students won multiple ribbons at the District 5 University Interscholastic League literary events in Littlefield on Friday. Rain Boosts Terry County Crop Prospects and Festive Parade
A heavy Monday rain revived Terry County crop prospects and spurred a lighthearted parade crowning Miss Kay Kessinger as Miss Dreambreaker of 1954. Rainfall ranged from 1 to 5 inches across the county, with irrigation covering about 60,000 acres and dryland cotton expected to yield well despite acreage controls. Local telephone service disruptions affected about 160 lines but were quickly repaired.

Funeral services for 86 year old Mrs Lizzie Akin were held at the First Baptist church in Tahoka with Rev George A Dale and Rev Clifford Harris officiating. Burial followed at Tech Memorial Park in Lubbock. She had lived in Brownfield for about a year after a long residence in Tahoka. Survived by husband J Akin 89, six sons Marshall Brownfield Frank Petersburg George Roswell Nathan Stegnenville Willard Dublin Ed Tahoka, two daughters Mrs Alice Sowell Winters and Mrs Oscar Hunt Lubbock, 33 grandchildren 47 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

J. L. Kemper announces a five year lease of the former Ross Motor Co. building in Brownfield to house the western division staff and a new division warehouse. About eight employees and their families will move from Lubbock by mid May, bringing total Brownfield staff to about 65. The move reflects a payroll of over 250000 dollars annually and no remodeling is required.
