Private aid ambulance service begins in Brownfield

Aid Ambulance Service of Lubbock begins 24 hour EMT operation in Brownfield replacing the police department in Terry County. The three government bodies will subsidize 93 867 yearly while Aid charges 85 per run plus 20 for emergency night and oxygen. The station operates from 302 S 5th St with on duty crews and a recreation room.

973 Voters go to polls Garcia Grimaldo Sears win City Council Seats

Brownfield voters elected Garcia Grimaldo and Hector Garcia Jr to two district council seats while incumbent Joe Sears retained his seat. Tommy Hicks won re election unopposed. Meadow City and Wellman voters also chose mayors and school board members in a multi city election with write ins.

Brownfield City Council to canvass election results

The Brownfield City Council will canvass Saturday's city election at its Thursday 8 30 a m agenda. Mayor Tommy Hicks and three councilmen elected for two year terms Joe Sears Hector Garcia Jr and Francisco Grimando will take the oath of office. Other items include major pro tem election appointments to city boards housing authority and talks on using City Hall for party primary election and a variance for the Country Caravan program from South Plains College.

Super Saturday in Brownfield draws crowds for deals and events

Brownfield hosts a bustling Super Saturday with a full weekend of activity. People swarm the square and city gyms for bargains, prizes, and gatherings as the American Legion district convention, a Little Dribblers tournament, and a track meet fill the day. The Terry County Wheels for Life Bike-a-Thon will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Coleman Park. Proceeds benefit St. Jude's Children’s Hospital. Forms for youth entrants are available at local schools.

The City of Brownfield will test its emergency warning system at noon Monday. The warning will be a steady siren blast. Landmark Cablevision will interrupt programming in conjunction with the siren test.

Noon Lions Club Talent Show Signups Open

Brownfield Noon Lions Club announces talent signups for the annual tournament of talent set for 7:30 p.m. at Brownfield Middle School Auditorium. Prizes are savings bonds in four divisions including Sth grade and below, 6th-8th, 9th grade and up, and an open division with no age limit. Brownfield Hosts First Super Saturday Event

Downtown Brownfield welcomed a busy crowd for the city’s inaugural Super Saturday with sidewalk merchant displays and entertainment. Volunteers and sponsors included the Brownfield Business Association and Radio FM 104, which gave away prizes led by Norma Castillo’s $300 gift certificate win.

County talent search for Sesquicentennial drama set in Terry County

Drama producers launch county wide talent search for School Ma arm Meets Cowboy a sesquicentennial celebration musical written by Lynda Billings. Auditions Monday April 14 at 7 30 p m in the Middle School Auditorium, bring music for singing roles. pianist provided. Readings available at the Chamber of Commerce office.
