CRTC to vacate City property and expand beds
The Brownfield CRTC will move from Seagraves Highway to the former West Texas Children’s Centre on Bynum Lane this summer, expanding from 45 to 54 beds by adding nine at WTCC property while reducing men’s beds to 40 and adding 14 women’s beds. Directors say the space allows separate dorms for men and women and supports a new Residential Substance Abuse Treatment program starting in June.

Y2K reflections and a newsroom software fix
In a lighthearted column Lynn Brisendine recalls Y2K fears that never fully materialized. The piece notes personal precautions, urban to rural exoduses, and a later software patch in the classified billing system. It concludes with relief that major disasters did not occur and a tongue in cheek offer to buy or sell extra Y2K supplies.
