Brownfield C of C backs exec salary amid banquet plans

After an executive session the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce Board kept Executive Director Cheryl Arrington at her present pay. She argued her duties changed from the original job description and that working at Limited Edition Art Gallery twice weekly hadn’t harmed her chamber duties. The board supports her salary while tasks remain satisfactory. Also reviewed were committee reports, the April 13 Brisket and Bean Cookoff, the Chamber Banquet on April 13, with John Sharp as guest speaker, and plans for Beautification Week and a Main Street style initiative.

Brownfield March permits total 121830 in city work

The City of Brownfield issued 27 building permits in March totaling 121 830 dollars. Major permits included two mobile homes at 39 900 dollars on South 2nd Street and 32 500 dollars on East Main Street. YTD for the first quarter 1996 reached 839 570 dollars.

Rudd Transfer Unit to remain TDCJ facility

The Jim Rudd Jail Transfer Unit will stay as a Texas Department of Criminal Justice jail transfer facility. Warden Mark Laughlin said Region V Director John Gilbert confirmed the unit’s continued operation Tuesday afternoon, ending speculation about its future.

Brownfield teen dies after bridge jump

A 16 year old Brownfield girl apparently died by her own action Sunday afternoon when she leapt from a local bridge. Services for Angelica Vasquez 16 were set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at St Anthony's Catholic Church. Brownfield police released the name from an obituary press release.

Chamber Banquet Tickets On Sale In Brownfield
