Mobile X Ray Unit to Visit Brookshire Health Center

The Texas Health Department mobile X ray unit will serve Brookshire Pattison and Humble plant citizens on October 5 from 1 30 p m to 5 30 p m and October 6 from 8 30 a m to 5 30 p m at the Brookshire Fire Station. Free X rays for all over fifteen with annual checkups urged by mayor and local doctor.

Driver Dies While Working on Car at Drive-In

Eddie Frank Divin 51 was killed instantly Sunday afternoon while under a friend’s car at Christian’s Drive-In 6502 Washington Ave. The jack failed as the right rear wheel slipped from the bumper jack. Three youngest sons—Albert Herbert and Earl—witnessed the accident. Funeral services were held in Waller with interment in Waller Catholic Cemetery. Divin born November 9 1904 married Lizzie Frey September 30 1924 would have celebrated 52nd anniversary this Sunday. Survivors include his wife one daughter Rosa Lee six sons and several siblings.

Fuller, 75, Dies in Simonton Graveside Rites

Graveside funeral services for Ed Fuller, 75, of Simonton were held at Fulshear cemetery on Sunday. The service was officiated by Rev. Otis Sutton. The obituary notes he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fuller and had lived in Pittsville.

An election meeting for the Kay Conservation District delegate will be held Tuesday October 2 at 7 30 pm at the Katy Division office of the American Rice Growers Association. Landowners are urged to attend to vote.

Services Held For Mrs Ed Sledge

Mrs Ed Sledge a 67 year old resident of Waller County died on September 20 at her son’s Houston home. Services were held in Hempstead with survivors including three sons Roland Harry and Lee Allen of Houston and a daughter Lillian Amsler of Hempstead along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Brown and Root Awarded Contract For Street Paving

The City of Brookshire awarded Brown and Root the contract to finish 10 blocks of streets with asphalt topping at 2914c per square yard. Bids opened in Hempstead on Friday, with N. E. Miller as superintendent supervising immediate start. E. L. Brode previously completed the curb and gutter work.

Public Invited To Court of Honor At Brookshire Station

Everett Brock will receive a Star Badge and merit badges at the Court of Honor this evening at Brookshire Station beginning at 8. James Griffin Hertia Hawkins and Billy Wharton will also be awarded merit badges. Scouts of Troop 370 and interested are invited. T. L. Poland is the outgoing Scoutmaster, and M. L. Red Young will supervise Brookshire Troop activities after the meeting.

Connie Huffpauir Injured In Sharp-Curve Crash Near Katy

Connie Huffpauir was critically injured when his 1952 Chevrolet failed to negotiate a sharp curve one mile south of Katy. The car left Farm to Market Road and struck a rice canal levee in Jimmie Johnson rice field. He was found minutes after by Harold Johnson and rushed to Heights Hospital Houston. condition at press time was critical with possible head concussion and chest spinal injuries.

1936 Waller County Junior Livestock Auction Tops Figures

The 4-H and FFA exhibitors at the 1956 Waller County Fair reported a strong Junior Livestock Auction totaling $6 246 93 with 14 turkeys averaging 80 88 and fat hogs steers and lambs posting solid per hundredweight averages. County Agricultural Agent E M Weaver praised buyers for boosting sale records and noted the event outpaced the previous three auctions.

Grand Champion Becomes Key Lot At Waller County Fair Sale

Lawrence Beckendorff 13 of Pattison exhibited the grand champion Hereford steer weighing 860 pounds bought by Bode Brothers for 535.92 dollars. Neal Flukinger’s reserve steer drew 894.90 as Cater Products bought it. Charley Meissner’s champion barrow sold for 122.65 to Bill Slater and A D Little. Judy Meisler’s lamb sold for 93.84 to St Lehrmann. The sale totals highlight scores for 4-H and FFA participants with many buyers from Hempstead Sealy and Houston area firms.

Quarter Horse Show crowns multiple champions at AQHA event

The 54 entries in the AQHA approved show were judged with Grand Champion Three Boots o James Huffington of Ora taking top honors. Reserve went to King Cody owned by O C Saint of Cypress. Grand Champion mare Bobo One belonging to Ro Ann Daugherty of Houston, reserve mare Ray Joetta of the Senior Ranch in DeWalt. Champion Gelding Po Co Reino owned by Bernard Paul of Houston, reserve Mackay Dandy owned by J B Ferguson of Wharton. Judge Dr Jeary Millar of Waco presided. Classes split into Reining Cutting and roping with Bay Breezy Bob and Kings Babe among winners and Scat Dickerson earning second in the roping. Mra Sam Wilson served as secretary.
