Grace Wilkinson celebrated 90th birthday with cards and memories

Grace Wilkinson marked her 90th birthday on Saturday September 15 with many cards and gifts from friends and relatives. Her sister recalls her long history of helping others since childhood and her habit of sending dimes to new babies and graduates. Born September 16, 1872 in Livingston Iowa, she later moved with family to Wolf Hill near Katy Oklahoma and back to Texas.

Type III Polio Vaccine Make-up Date Deferred Temporarily In The Area

The make-up date for Type II polio vaccine originally set for this Saturday is deferred notes Dr. J J Hopkins. Tri County Medical Association president Dad A Neeley says representatives met with Austin Grimes Winter Medical Association and delegates from Galveston and other counties. Some scientists urge continuing and completing Type III vaccine despite the surgeon general statement while November doses of Type Mb will be given across the three counties. Those not yet vaccinated may see their family physician for make ups.

Vaccination Drive Counts 2280 Type II Doses Sat

A strong turnout in the Brookshire Pattison area pushed total Type II polio vaccine recipients to 2280 Saturday. Pattison clinic recorded 563 doses and Brookshire school 1717 with numerous local volunteers assisting Dr Hopkins and staff across both sites.

Earl York services set for Friday in Houston

Earl James B. York died September 18 at the Veterans Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Heights Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain J. W. Jackson officiating and interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Born April 28 1888 in Indiana, he had lived in Houston 45 years and was married to Bertha Luce. He served in the Marine Corps.

Fine for Not Stopping For School Bus In Katy

Motorists in Katy must stop and stay stopped as school buses load or unload. City ordinance sets a fine of 25 to 200 dollars for violations and requires remaining stopped until all passengers are loaded or discharged. The city law aligns with but tightens highway rules by mandating continued stop until bus completion.

Royal Falcons Visit Montgomery For Friday showdown

Iola opened with a 14-0 first quarter lead on a 15 yard pass and a 5 yard run. The Bulldogs added a 51 yard TD dash before halftime to lead 22-0. A 37 yard run in the fourth extended the margin to 34-0 as the Falcons failed to move the ball. The Falcons travel to Montgomery to face the Bears after their 36-7 win over Lovelady.
