Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brookshire will hold a Thanksgiving Mass on Thursday November 25 at 8 30 a m. No Mass is scheduled for St Bartholomew in Katy except a 7 00 p m service Wednesday evening.

Funeral services for Reubin Alfred Mathews were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Addicks with Reverends Earl Whitfield and Bill Brinegar officiating. Burial followed at Wharton City Cemetery. Mathews, born November 30, 1906, died November 19. He married Marie Chambliss on May 25, 1927. Survivors include son William Mathews of California, daughter Mrs. Bill McIlroy of Katy, five grandchildren, a sister of Houston, and an uncle in Glen Flora. He belonged to Operating Engineers Local 430 and had lived in Addicks since 1947.
Chief of Police Pat Adams addressed Troop 66 of the Girl Scouts of Katy at the V F W Community Center on November 17. The session covered bicycle laws safety practices hand signals riding single file street signs and required equipment including lamps a bell audible at 300 feet and a working brake. A quiz followed and participation helped girls earn five Girl Scout merit badges while officers offered official bicycle safety manuals from the Katy Police Department.
Mrs. W A Lindsey 66 years 11 months 17 days died November 17 at Brookshire Arms Nursing Center after six months illness. Services at Evergreen Baptist Church Keith at 10 30 a m November 19 with Rev Lowell Howard officiating. Survivors include husband W A Lindsey daughters Bessie Broadus Mae Maugham Annie Burns Cass Steventon sons A W Beene W A Beene Carl Beene Roy Beene 41 grandchildren 23 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchildren. Burial Evergreen Cemetery Keith.

Royal Independent School District voters approved Bond No.1 for 425000 in air conditioning and renovations by 160 to 137 while Bond No.2 for 125000 for an athletic field house failed 143 yes to 145 no in a 294 turnout.
The regular City of Katy meeting scheduled for Thursday November 25 is canceled due to the holidays. The next meeting is set for Thursday December 9 at City Hall.
