Leaf Worm Seen as Cotton Threat
Washington May 28 Agriculture Department entomologists warn that cotton leaf worm could cause considerable damage to this year’s crop unless immediate care is taken. The pest, long a cotton grower scourge, has appeared in many fields with traces found in Port Lavaca as early as May 5. Normally the worm does not appear until June first. southwestern growers endured heavy losses last year as the pest winters in the tropics and flies north to the Cotton Belt in summer.
