Van Scroggins Buy Feed Store In Katy

Mr and Mrs Van Scroggins have purchased the Feed Store owned by L D Robinson and Sons. It will be known as the Katy Feed Company. The couple, married since March, now reside in Katy at Mrs Alts apartment. Van is son of Gus Scroggins a noted quarter horse breeder at Webster. They were formerly Waller county residents.

Senior Class Presents The Green Ghost Play

The Katy High School senior class stages James Reach’s The Green Ghost in the gym Friday May 7 at 8 pm. Lead roles go to Lawrence A vera and Myrna Collier with Lila Robinson directing and Leo Ernstes overseeing lights and sound.

Lions to Meet on Wednesday Nights Now

Brookshire Lions Club changes meeting nights to the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays each month due to softball games. A directors meeting is set for Wednesday night. Rev. G Z Sadler spoke on Friendship at Tuesday May 4 meeting. Thirty three members and guest Harris Smith of Alpine Texas enjoyed the PTA chicken dinner.

Brookshire Baptist Church Welcomes Rev O Quinn

Rev G A O Quinn has accepted the call as pastor of Brookshire Baptist Church. He and his wife with three children will move from Rock Island this week. He previously served at Rock Island and Glidden churches and is Howard Payne College graduate. Services Sunday are 11 am and 8 pm with prayer at 8 pm Wednesday. monthly conference follows Wednesday prayer.

Services Held for Mrs Hattie Garrett in Burnet Pattison and Brookshire Attendees

Mrs Hattie Viola Jones Garrett died Sunday May 2 in Burnet Texas. Funeral services were held in Pattison Methodist church and in Burnet with Rev G Z Sadler and Rev Moon officiating. Interment followed in Pattison cemetery. She was born December 8 1876 at Pattison daughter of Ben and (mother) Jones. Survived by daughter Lila Garrett Kuykendall two grandchildren Stillman Taylor Jr Judy Kuykendall. Burial directed by Muske and Son.

Local Bridge Club Social and Week End Visits

Mrs Harmon Ainsworth hosted the Monday Bridge Club with high for Mrs Mangum and second for Mrs Reaves. The menu featured chicken a la king, pickled peaches, asparagus, gala wine, olives and desserts. Numerous residents from Stephenville to Pasadena visited relatives, with several attending outings and hospital or temple visits.

Oscar Schier of Sealy announces the start of Regal Distributing Co as Regal beer distributor for American Brewing Co of New Orleans. The agency, already operating with Schier as owner and Bruce Viereck as route salesman, serves Austin Washington and Waller counties. A new K6 International truck with Lufkin body will deliver beer. Schier also owns Schier Beverage Co bottling Hires Kis t and Squirt.

V F W Installation Ceremonies Held in Katy

Floyd E Breedlove Post 9182 Katy held V F W installation at the Katy Gas Cycling Plant recreation hall last Wednesday. Commander Jim Dilorio introduced officers from Texas and District 17. Ethyl Breedlove received a scroll, and Jim Dilorio was honored. Barbecue supper, dancing, and gratitude to Jim Rose for meat followed.
