Month delay seen in first payment of pension to aged

Austin Texas April 23 Although Washington dispatches said Texas will start paying old age pensions June 1 Gov James V Allred said Wednesday his best information was that the start could not be made before July 1 Orville S Carpenter old age pension director is in Washington with Assistant Attorney General Fred Warner and the two collaborated in placing the Texas pension setup before the Social Security Administration pension division with the result that it was approved and the government agreed to a match Texas money to total of 20 per month meaning 15 from state money and 15 from Washington The same Washington source said the work would start with 60 000 old age pensioners and Allred said his unofficial information was that Texas will be more than that at first He said the 60 000 estimate is based on experience of other states but that the Texas law is so much more than that of other states that the number would be app reduced Not More Than 15 The law provides that not more that 15 may be used for the pensions With a similar amount of Federal funds a pensioner could get 30 a month but no more Former Representative TH McGregor of Austin has said he would make a court test of the validity of the pension act Should he obtain an injunction payments would be delayed un
