Funeral services were held in the First Methodist Church of Katy at 3 o'clock. Rev. Floyd La Munyon of Penn Texas officiated assisted by Rev. F. D. Dawson Jr and Rev. Olen Bachtler. Pallbearers were Arthur Miller Esten Denny George Vaughan Jess Freeman Cecil Beckendorff and Cecil Gaynes.

Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Cecil Shorty Colt
Cecil Kennette Colt known as Shorty died in a Houston hospital on Sunday March 13 1955 after months of ill health. He lived in Katy for 50 years and worked at Stewart and Wright Drug Store then Katy Hardware Co until 1952. He enjoyed cattle tending in later years and is survived by a sister Mrs C B Peck of Katy a brother J M Colt of Houston a step sister Mrs M D Freeman and a step brother J G Roberts both of Katy and many relatives.

Brick Week Sales Reach 224 For B&PW Club
The B and PW Club met March 8 at Loyce Ehlert's home. A total of 224.35 was raised from the I Bought A Brick Campaign. Members voted to continue selling until all bricks are sold. Brookshire Club invited to Hempstead for the annual dinner on March 17. Refreshments were served to eight members. Next meeting set for April 12 at 8:00 p.m. at Aline Mitchell's after the Fireman's Barbecue.

Brookshire Sets April 5 Election For Mayor And Council
Will Adams will preside as judge with Mrs Mozelle Avery and C W Barnum as assistants at an April 5 city election to elect a mayor and two council members. The vote occurs at the school and follows city council appointment last week. Street work planned from Fifth and Otto to Seventh and Otto, then east to Fulshear road with curb and gutter costs shared by property owners. The previous paving cost owners $1.45 per running foot for concrete and labor.
