Katy National Bank plans a major expansion to more than triple its size. The new 10000 square foot structure will include a spacious lobby, extra vaults, drive in windows, a coffee bar, and modern offices. Construction bids open July 20 with Arnold Hendler & Associates as architect and Lloyd Huntsinger noted for the 1955 building. The project aims to support rapid community growth and ascent in assets past 35.55 million over 12 years.

Early Rice Harvest Record Set Near Katy
Gene Hoyt and Sons start the 1967 season by cutting the first rice at Katy this June 27. A 140 acre Belle Patna field planted March 2 matured in 117 days yielding 20 percent moisture. Hoyt and staff work at Cardiff Bros Drier, with sample taken as rice pours into the elevator, marking the first June harvest in Katy Brookshire. Several other farmers expected to harvest this week.
