The Democratic National Convention in Houston debates nominating Al Smith for president on the second ballot with a strong possibility of the first ballot. Senator Joe Robinson leads the vice presidential bid, contingent on his desire for the post.
Mrs H Seidel entertained with bridge and Forty Two on Thursday evening the twenty first in honor of Misa Ruby Henry a bride elect. Tables were set among flowers with games played. Misa Henry held high in Forty Two and Mrs Claude Cliett in bridge. Out of town guests included Mr E S Dalton of Bryan Miss McCarty of Crockett and Hiram Campbell of Orchard. Salad and cake were served.
As we go to press at noon Mre A B Anderson was called to Houston to be with her friend Mrs Max Wander whose little daughter Vernar was being operated on for appendicitis Thursday evening at four o clock. Joe Smith was in Hoveto Wednesday to attend to business and visit the convention. J S Lilly of Conroe candidate for District Attorney was in town Thursday looking after the candidacy in this county. Mrs M B E Howard of Natalia in the guest of her parents Mr and Mrs and Mrs J W Avery J D Cooper and Roy Muske were in Houston to see the convention crowd. W R McCauley was in Houston Tuesday night and Wednesday visiting his sister and attending the Convention.
J B Sterling and Rufus Muske of Baytown visited Sunday. Miss Annie Laurie Bains and others left with J P Cox for Houston trip. Mrs W Howard left for Memphis with nephew Maxie Dozier. David Dozier and Houston family visited last Sunday. Geo A Rhemann of Fulshear conducted business here Saturday. J S Jordan and family of Houston visited Minnie McGaughey. Reeves Jordan returned home. Mr and Mrs J H Whitehead of Houston stayed with W K McCauley. M S McAlister and family of Blue Ridge visited Julia Newell. A B Anderson attended the Needville Catholic church dedication. L A Brisco of Fulshear did business in Brookshire. Chessell Grand and Jack Donald attended a Houston baseball game. Chas Menke near Hempstead visited. Mr and Mrs Chas Trettin were in Sauly last Saturday. Jon Smith and family visited Addick last Sunday.
