Tri-County Implement Co Wins Industrial Contract

The Tri-County Implement Co has won the Case Industrial Contract covering twenty counties including Houston. The award, announced last Saturday by J. I. Case Co executive M. B. Rottman, names Tri-County and two other dealerships in Texas as primary firms.

Veely Family Child Freddie to Perform at Frydek Grotto

Freddie Veely five and sister Connie will appear in an accordion solo at the All Day Frydek Grotto Celebration near Sealy on Sunday June 30 at 3 30 PM. The 5 year old has performed on amateur and benefit shows with over 100 songs and will share the stage with local musicians Micah's Brass Band and Bill Mraz's Orchestra. Barbecue meals are offered at one dollar per plate with children's plates at sixty cents. Public invitation extended.

Firemen's Minstrel Set for August 1 at Katy School

The minstrel staff met last week to prepare costumes publicity script materials and musical assignments. Casting will occur this week for the Katy Firemen's Minstrel scheduled Thursday August 1 at Katy School Auditorium.

Funeral Services Held Sunday For C. A. (Tom) Peek

C. A. Tom Peek died suddenly at work June 19 in Katy district road and bridge maintenance for Harris County. Born January 23, 1900 in Centerville Iowa, son of A J and Elizabeth Peek, he moved to Texas in 1906. He married Iola Spruill March 5 1922. lived in Houston 19 years, Magnolia Paper Co employee, Katy 16 years. Survived by widow two brothers two sisters numerous relatives and friends. Funeral held at First Baptist Church Katy at 2 p.m. with Rev Joe Ramsey and Rev Richardson officiating.

Brookshire Scouts Headed to National Jamboree Adventure

Five Brookshire Scouts join 400 participants for a July to July 21 trip from Houston to the National Jamboree at Valley Forge Pennsylvania. Stops include St Louis Detroit Niagara Falls Washington DC New York City and major landmarks before camp at Valley Forge and return via Cincinnati Louisville Nashville and Memphis. Dube's Plans July 1 Credit Card Issuance

Dube's will issue credit cards starting July 1 marking a shift to a customer charge system. Only cardholders will be authorized to charge and applications will require references and relative information for credit approval. Local merchants may follow Katy area trends with oil firms already promoting card use.

Funeral Rites Held for Local Resident at Memorial Oaks

Katy City OKs HL&P House Numbering Plan

The City Council of Katy met in special session on June 24 1957 with Raymond Saage of HL&P presenting a new house numbering system tied to HL&P master plan to number every house in their service area. The plan is expected to benefit the community.

Minor Accident In City Of Brookshire

A minor accident occurred in Brookshire last Thursday morning in front of Max Wander's Insurance Office. Horace Phillips driving a 1957 Ford ran into the back of a 1952 Chevrolet driven by Leon Busby Penrice. Patrolman John Vance investigated the incident noting minor damage and no injuries. No charges were filed.
