Mrs. Lois Lawrence Muckelroy, daughter of former Sheriff Ernest Lawrence, announces her candidacy for Waller County Treasurer. A Hempstead teacher, she pledges an ethical campaign and efficient, attentive administration if elected.
Irma Castle Peek states she will not be a candidate for County Treasurer this year and thanks supporters. She invites friends to Hempstead to visit and greet her, noting she has enjoyed serving as treasurer.
An all night dance and party will be given at the Cot hall Saturday with an orchestra from Houston. Mr and Mrs Hugo Seidel left Tuesday for a vacation in Colorado.
Fort Bend County's elder statesman Judge F M C Fenn discusses his long career from Reconstruction days and explains what he knows about the so called gentlemen's agreement between Fort Bend and Waller Counties. He details his Jaybird Association involvement and clarifies the press on the matter.
Ed Castle announces his run for sheriff of Waller County. Former sheriff Castle says he has been in private business in Hempstead for years and cites his experience as preparation for public service. Continued on Page 3.

Mr and Mrs Claude Tillery and family visited in the Stenzel home over the weekend. Mr and Mrs Willie Mekeskie and Anis were visitors in the Keuneke home Sunday.
Fenn a 78 year old Fort Bend County lawyer describes the Fort Bend Waller agreement and its unauthorised nature. He recalls local figures and asserts the plan did not have the countywide authority or consent of all residents. The discussion continues on Page 6.
Attendance dipped slightly as the Business Men's Club opened a new luncheon series. County Agent J V Bush gave an inspirational hometown talk. Visiting candidates included Mrs. L E Stinson Sheriff Blumberg George Crump Rep Cecil Baker and TA Party. Next meeting is scheduled July 18 with another speaker.
