Boll Weevil Taking Heavy Toll in County
The Department of Entomology at A. and M. College reports rising boll weevil infestation in Waller County with 21 percent in one field and 28 percent average in three Brazos bottom farms. Flea hoppers show lower current levels but likely to rise. farmers urged to apply calcium arsenate 5 to 7 pounds every 5 to 7 days and use commercial dusts to control fleas.

Sterling Ebel has joined his brother Freddie in California where he is working and says he is delighted with California. Several Texas residents visited Brookshire and Houston over the weekend including Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Clifford and mother of Dallas and their daughter Mrs. J. J. Hopkins who planned a fishing trip from Rockport with Mrs. Hopkins and Sarah Margaret. Mrs. J. A. Dozier and son Charles visited Houston to see a show. Mrs. Jack Dalton and daughter of Houston spent Sunday with her father Mr. Warren Cooper. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bemus of Houston were weekend guests of Megdim Garrett. Mrs. H. A. Chapman of Columbus Ohio and Mrs. H. A. Smith and daughters of Alpine joined a party at Sylvan Beach. The county agriculture agent describes applying sulphur at 10 to 14 pounds per interval about every seven days as part of the crop management guidance.
1939 Cotton Price Adjustment Payment details
The Waller County Agricultural Conservation Association will accept applications for Cotton Price Adjustment Payments in about 30 days. Payments are 1.6 cents per pound on 1938 cotton allotment and 12 cents per hundred pounds on 1938 rice allotments. No payment if 1939 allotment is overplanted. Destroy excess 1939 planted cotton within 10 days of notice and notify county office or supervisor.

Last rites held for Mrs Jewell Armer 37 of Waller
Funeral service was held at 2 30 pm Tuesday with burial in Shiloh cemetery. Survived by husband Maxcy and two sons Porter and Earl Leon of Waller, two brothers Earl Porter Hereford and Leon Porter Amarillo. Burial by Robertson Funeral Home.
