Arrell Foster announces candidacy for re election as District Clerk subject to the Democratic primary July 23. He cites an excellent record and requests continued loyal support from county residents and friends.
New officers were installed by the OES at their regular Wednesday meeting in the Masonic hall. Installing officers included Mrs. M F Finks Mrs. Marian Avis Mrs. Anna Bains Mrs. Minnie Mc Gaughey Mrs. Vera Day Mrs. Emma Wander and Mrs. Minnie Bains. New officers named were Maggie Barnum AJ Glueck Lila Gordon JC Day Clarica Cliett Max Wander and Harrett.
Brookshire School board on Monday night hired an attorney to recover delinquent funds to repair and remodel Brookshire School this summer. Plans include a flat roof with three steel beams, interior reorganization for more classrooms, enhanced heating, and exterior stucco. The resignation of Mrs. N Agopian was accepted. the board will reaffiliate with Katy school next session and assessor Dave Agopian was authorized to spend two days in Hempstead with the county.
A car owned by John Newell was hit by lightning during last week's electrical storm. The strike created a hole in the top of the vehicle while it was parked under a tree at his home.
At the first meeting on Friday the volunteer fire company signed up 14 members and assigned duties by Chief Day. The fire siren will be mounted on the northeast corner of Donald's store next to the telephone office. Meetings will be held the first Tuesday of each month.
