Lasky’s Life From Cornet Player to Hollywood Titan
A compressed bio of Jesse Lasky recounts his rise from a San Jose cornet player at age twelve to a Hollywood power player. It covers Alaska gold rush beginnings, early staging, the 1900s California operetta idea with Cecil B. De Mille, the formation of Famous Players Lasky, the Paramount era, a 1932 resignation, and later Warner Bros projects like Sergeant York Mark Twain and Rhapsody in Blue. It notes his resilience after losses and his goal to tell personal histories of American rise.
