Crippled Children's Ball Set for Saturday Night

Saturday night March 1 marks the Seventh Annual Crippled Children's Ball by the Shriners of Addicks Barker Brookshire Falkhear and Katy area. Event at Katy High School Auditorium begins at 7 30 with local talent and a 25 piece Ram sey State Farm orchestra plus dancing at 9 30 in the old Katy Gymnasium. Proceeds aid the Arabia Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital with donations via paper ad tickets.

World Day of Prayer Observed Friday

The United Council of Church Women schedules World Day of Prayer for Friday February 29 1952 the first Friday in Lent The event features interdenominational prayer services at Ad Dicks Methodist Kitty Methodist Pattison Methodist and Pattison churches with offerings shared between home and foreign missions Everyone is invited to attend.

Shade Trees Planted in Brookshire City Park

Lions Club committee members Richard Woods Pete Pederson Chester Jordan Kenneth Schulte and Bert Gassner planted 44 Pin Oak trees in Brookshire City Park last weekend. The project reflects the club’s civic effort in the city which was donated by Geo Longenbaugh and includes part used as a baseball field.

Dozier Farm Equipment Co Inc opened its new Brookshire building with a John Deere Day ceremony. About six hundred guests attended a Way side Theatre show and barbecue dinner in the shop. Gifts included tools and tractor accessories from local farmers and families.

R. E. Hooker Rites Held Monday

Robert Edward Hooker 80 died at his Katy home from a heart attack after years of ill health. Born January 14 1872 in Nashville Arkansas he had two marriages and several children and stepchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at the First Baptist Church Katy with interment in Quanah Texas.

Noted Elementary Educator to Speak Here Tuesday at 3 30

Dr. Milo E. Kearney chair of Elementary Education at the University of Houston will address the PTA meeting Tuesday March 4 at 3 30 in the Visual Aid Room. He helped Katy faculty during a three day study and is renowned in elementary education. Topics include What Makes Good Schools with musical numbers by band students directed by Phil Baker. Cotton, denim and nylon outfits featured from party dresses to market wear with bright colors and light accessories. Performers included Dwayne Fussell Barbara Kelley Helen Chambers Karen Robertson and Rose Marie Harrison with Verna Bierschwale as commentator. The show teased the Fall Fashion Show by Wander Stores in Brookshire and Katy.
