L. D. Robinson and his sons purchase the E. J. Gray Feed store. Robinson remains as agricultural teacher through term end, then plans to run the business with Maurice Lloyd and Mrs. Walter Egger assisting until the transition.
Tuesday morning about 10 o clock a spark from the chimney ignited the roof of the Hager residence. Vernon Mays reported the blaze. Katy volunteer firefighters arrived to extinguish it, stopping damage after about eight feet of roof burned.
Local report notes Sunday actions to start a Barker Presbyterian church with a planned building cost of 6000 dollars. The Addicks Barker P T V A will meet March 4 at 2 p m with fifth and sixth graders performing and an election for next year's officers.

About thirty members of the Katy Rotary Club attended the Tomball Chamber of Commerce banquet Monday night as guests of the Tomball Rotary Club. The Katy Swing band performed and Tomball claimed the lead for most members present in a meeting contest.
A new seven member Cub Scout den is organized in Katy with Mrs Wayne Bartlett as Den Mother and Harold Hensley as Den Chief. They plan to enter a hobby exhibit in Houston. Mrs C M Martin was in La Grange on Monday night.
Local residents and visitors list shows Mrs Ella Highrabedian of Houston spending the weekend with relatives. Many Houston visitors attend events in Brenham Sealy Pasadena and Patton. Several are noted for illness travel or shopping with friends and family.
The Katy FFA chapter held its annual Parent and Son barbecue on Friday night February 21 to honor 62 honorary members. A ceremony inducted them into the chapter and a gold plate plaque will list their names in the agriculture room. Ten boys received greenhand pins and sixteen received chapter farmer pins. Fourteen were awarded FFA jackets for outstanding work in agriculture and Future Farmers. Meat was donated by I. L. Southard, Gene Hoyt, and Jim Rose. Clark and the Katy Swing band provided music. Herman Engel of Houston was guest speaker. Lawrence Avera served as master of ceremonies. Eston Denny Olen Thompson Elmer Peek Roy Beckendorff Leonard Jordan and M. D. Freeman helped with the barbecue.

Katy residents note extended weekend in Houston for the wedding anniversary of Mrs. Buster McConathy and her husband. Jud Mathis is reported seriously ill at his son Wyle Mathis's LaPorte home with children summoned to his bedside. Dean Roberts of Galveston and R L Huntley of Houston visited A W Ferris’s family.
