Katy Chamber Banquet Focuses on Brochure and Local Growth

The Katy Chamber of Commerce will host its annual banquet Friday at 7 30 p.m. at the Katy Restaurant with Rev Alvin Musgrove as speaker. The meeting approved updating the chamber brochure and backing an interstate exit at I 10 West and FM 1463 while coordinating with the school and city on the request. The group discussed lighted HL and P sign placement near the railroad and potential new locations due to easement delays.

Growth of Local Area Highlighted by HL and P Franchise Fees

Houston Lighting and Power Co. handed Brookshire officials a 1968 franchise check of 4521.90, with 1968 electric sales at 102,604.06 and street-light costs of 2,057.57. Katy received 10,700.70, up 12.84 percent from last year, based on sales of 257,737.77 and a 4 percent profit tax plus 500 fixed credit. Mayor Stallknecht and Mayor Freeman chaired the presentations.

Cub Scout Leader Training Sessions Set for March

Mildred Ondrua ek director of training for Cub Scout leaders announced the 1969 Leader Training Session from March 3 to 7 at St Pauls Lutheran Church Annex in Rosenberg. All Deaf Smith District Cub Scout leaders are invited with Den Mothers Cul Masters Webelos Leaders and Den Coaches eligible for the training. The program is basic for Cult Leaders and will count toward Scouters Award points.

The Royal FFA Parade Committee met February 183th at Royal High School to organize entries for the seventh annual Royal FFA Parade set for Monday March 31 1969 at 3 00 p m The event carries the theme Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales with categories including Comic Individual Commercial Civic School and age based horseback divisions A Trail Ride from Pattison to Brookshire starts at 1 00 p m on parade day and a barbecue follows at 4 30 p m in the Royal High School Cafeteria All are invited to participate in the activities

Little League Meeting and Tryouts Scheduled

A Katy Little League gathering is set for Thursday at 7 30 p m in the Katy Elementary Cafetorium. All boys ages 8 through 12 who signed up should attend. A separate meeting for parents and officers follows the meeting. Try-outs are planned for Saturday February 22 at the Katy Little League Park.

The Pentecostal Church of God in Brookshire hosts a chili supper on Saturday in February 1969. Adults pay 1.00 and children 0.75 for all you can eat. Proceeds support church youth activities.
