The Katy Rotary Club observes Rotarys 54th founding anniversary with a February 26 ladies night dinner at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Sponsored by the Tomball club, Katy received its charter March 19, 1946. The group notes service projects from fire truck donation to city survey on water and sewer, road improvements, and support for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Alyne Lamb attended the funeral of her sister-in-law Mrs. Angelina Stone at Cottage Grove Baptist Church in Houston on Saturday. Stone, 44, died en route to the hospital after a heart attack suffered while skating with her daughter. Survivors include Stone’s daughter and son, her mother, two sisters, and one brother.

Funeral Services Held For Lee Robert Sears
Funeral services for Lee Robert Sears 55 were held at Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel Sunday afternoon. Interment followed in Katy Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Richard Jenkins and Rev. Greg Longenbaugh officiating. Sears died Thursday evening in a San Angelo hospital after months of illness. Born May 10 1903 in Whitewright Texas he was the son of Henry L and Emma Cornealous Sears. He worked in the oilfields and lived in Houston for thirty years. Survivors include wife Violet Sears his mother Mrs Emma Sears his sister Mia Myrtle Sears and several aunts and uncles. Pallbearers listed were Wayne Bartlett Herman Meyer Esten Denny Charlie Peck Busiter Roberts and M A Gray.

City of Katy Passes Parking Ordinance and Other 1959 Measures
Katy City Council passed a no parking ordinance along the alley by the Post Office. A postal vote on 1959 holidays showed Christmas and other dates scoring highest. Officials set water and sewer line charges at one dollar per extra foot. Plans are set to pave the road from the Dewey Peek property to Ray addition.
