Park Playground Planned At Brazos Bridge Site

The highway commission may turn over a riverfront site to the Brookshire Business Men's Club to develop lakes from excavated pits along the highway. Lakes would be stocked with fish and freshwater crabs to attract visitors and aid native food supplies. A park and playground are proposed to lure sportsmen and boost regional interest.

Judge George Crump of Hempstead paid a visit to Brookshire on Wednesday, meeting local residents and observing community affairs during a brief visit.

Bridge Work Draws Hundreds To River View

River scene attracts hundreds Sunday to watch progress on Brazos River bridge. Visitors include Buddy Muske and Raymond Taylor of Victoria with Mrs Raymond Witt, and Mr and Mrs L Hovas of Houston visiting Mrs Agopian. The Wanders attend Houston beautification meeting. Brookshire Literary Club Holds Second Meeting

The Brookshire Literary Club met Tuesday night with Rev. and Mrs. J. D. F. Houck hosting. The evening featured current events with Mrs. W. D. Bains presenting legislative proceedings and Dr. J. J. Hopkins discussing socialized medicine. Mrs. Houck spoke on Secretary Hull and reciprocal trade treaties while Mr. Houck covered Roosevelt appointees and federal judiciary questions. Temporary president Mrs. W. D. Bains and discussion leader Mrs. Negos Agopian were named. a constitution committee was formed including Mr. Houck Mrs. J. B. Anderson and Miss Tubbs. The club plans to meet again next Tuesday and invites interested parties.

Garden Club Grows Fast in Katy Area

The newly formed garden club at the school house held its second meeting with nearly full membership. In two weeks 54 members have affiliated, with five visitors from Hempstead sharing talks. Next meeting set for Monday, February 27.
