There will be an oyster supper Friday night February seventeenth at Adams School House for the benefit of the school. Everyone is invited. Robert Lee McCauley underwent surgery in Houston last Monday after having his tonsils removed.
Funeral services for Mrs Irena K Romack 54 who died Friday after being struck by an automobile were held at First Baptist Church at 3 30 p m Sunday She is survived by two daughters Mrs Roy Southard Katy and Mrs Clifford Rich Enid Oklahoma and a son Frank Cooper Enid She was a member of the Christian Church.
Waller County to form an American Legion Post with W. M. Menke named temporary chairman. A countywide meeting is set for February 25 at 8 p.m. in Hempstead to organize the unit and recruit veterans eligible from April 6 1917 to November 11 1918. W. R. McCauley bought the Merchants & Planters Gin in Houston and plans modern machinery and electric power.
Caprielian Brothers and G. T. Shearer open a new hardware store in the former Caprielian Brothers grocery building. Mr. Shearer from Simonton Texas moves his family to Crockett to manage the venture, a development welcomed by the community.

Harvey Sartain, long employed in Chesterville, returns home to Hempstead after several months. Chas Thiel and his wife relocate back to Hempstead following two years in Brookshire and Houston. Charlie accepts a job with Hempstead Motor Company. Miss Mattie Evie Lipscomb and Pollybelle Sartain visit Brookshire last Saturday afternoon. Harvey Sartain and his sister Lucie were in Houston last Friday.
John Myner and grandson Frankie traveled to Houston last Monday for business. Jno Kocurek and his young son and daughter conducted business in Brookshire last Monday. Fritz Wenzel and family visited Houston last Tuesday. Ford McCauley was in Houston on Monday and Tuesday.
