License Plates Go On Sale This Week
License plates went on sale in Brookshire February 15. The 1961 plates are black on white for better distant readability. To obtain them quickly, bring a certificate of title and last year's registration receipt. Miller Motor Co. in Katy had not received plates yet. Texas ranked third nationwide with 4,800,000 registered vehicles in 1960 per the Texas Highway Department.

Services Held For Mrs J A Bartlett Saturday Morning
Funeral services for Mrs Zoe Irene Bartlett were held at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Richard Jenkins officiating. Interment followed at Katy Magnolia Cemetery. She died February 9 at 3 a.m. in a Spring Branch hospital after an extended illness. She was 71. Born August 24 1889 in Illinois she moved to Texas as a child and married Jacob A Bartlett at 16. Survivors include her husband two sons a daughter five grandchildren seven great grandchildren and other relatives. Pallbearers were named. Her early work in home demonstration and 4 H led to the first Katy 4 H Girls Leader around 1915.

Blue and Gold Cub Pack 370 Banquet Honors Local Cubs
About 60 attendees gathered Friday for Brookshire Cub Pack 370 Blue and Gold Banquet. Bobcat badges were presented by Cubmaster Ian Rheman to Mark England, Mike Lock, Michael Mayberry, John Phillips and Barry Turner, with four later earning Wolf Badges alongside Stanley Ford and R. L. Lowe. Special guests included Mrs. R. N. Ritchey receiving a Cub service plaque, along with committee members and Dr. and Mrs. J. J. Hopkins. The event featured two dens’ skits, a song fest, and the 51st Scout birthday cake at a decorated head table. Den mothers Mary Rheman, E. D. Turner, John Rowe, John England, and Kenneth McDonald prepared the covered dish menu.
