1929 License Data Shows Increase in Waller County

Tax collector reports 277 more vehicle licenses in 1929 than 1926, with total license revenue rising by 2066.16 from 1928. 1929 counts include 1405 passenger cars and 299 commercial licenses, while 1258 passenger and unspecified commercial licenses are noted for 1928. Funds transferred to county treasurer and state highway department are listed with dates in early 1928 and 1929.

Junior Missionary Society Forms at Mrs Seidel Home

Last Saturday the junior girls organized a Junior Missionary Society at Mrs A Sei del Seidel home. Mrs Seidel chaired the meeting and officers were elected: Maxine Olsen president Bessie Lee Henry vice president Dorothy Reeves secretary and Mrs Seidel treasurer. Refreshments followed the adjournment.

McCauley and Buller Tie The Knot In Hempstead

Ford McCauley and Miss Mon tie Lee Buller wed last Sunday afternoon in Hempstead. Rev. Frank Morgan of the Baptist Church officiated. The couple reside with the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Buller, Brookshire Route 1.

Weather Delays Farmers in Field Work Across District

Prolonged bad weather slows farm activity with many fields still not broken and reports of only about half the land prepared on several farms.

Shell Company's Crews Laying Pipeline Here

The Shell Company has a large crew laying pipe along their right of way in this section with another crew to follow as welders in a few days. This is the third pipeline laid through this end of the county. K Beyler and wife visited Temple Monday night. she remains in a sanitarium for treatment and hopes for recovery.

Local business man marries Kerwin girl

J F Taylor a Brookshire businessman married Miss Lillian Davis of Kerwin Texas last Sunday. The ceremony was performed by a Baptist minister in Kerwin. Miss Davis worked as a telephone operator in Brookshire. The couple returned to Brookshire Tuesday and reside with W D Cooper. Friends extend felicitations.

County Commissioners In Session This Week

The first quarterly meeting of the present Commissioners Court was held at Hempstead led by County Judge W. M Wheeler with Commissioners O. E. Wood T. W. Garrett Wes Buller and J. R. Garrett in attendance. The road situation in Precinct 1 dominated Monday’s business as the court faces money shortages and seeks citizen cooperation to render property for taxes especially personal property like livestock to avoid shifting tax burdens.
