Mrs W D Mills is in Houston this week for medical attention. A O Muske and Mrs A Bijie were in Houston Tuesday afternoon. The R W Averys and Will Adams were in Houston for the Stock Show this week.

All men aged twenty to forty four who have not registered before must register next Monday, February 16. Four locations are available in Hempstead, Waller, Prairie View, and Brookshire. The schoolhouse here stays open 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. on registration day.
Gov. Coke Stevenson proclaims the first and fifteenth of each month as Defense Bond and Stamp Day in Texas. The aim is to boost patriotic purchases to finance wartime needs as salaried citizens receive pay and spending can be redirected from luxuries to bonds and stamps for the United Nations.
The organization aims to prove public support for fighting personnel by delivering warm clothes and comfort kits directly to troops. It urges every town to establish a local branch, listing needed items such as sweaters hats socks scarves gloves and basic hygiene and entertainment supplies.
