Prison Orchestra To Entertain At Shrine Program
The Famous Prison Orchestra returns for a Shrine Crippled Children’s Hospital benefit at Katy School Auditorium on Saturday night February 21. Tickets are sold by local Shrine volunteers. Proceeds aid the Shrine Crippled Children’s Hospital. shows include Brookshire School of Dancing and Hallie Pritchard School class of Katy led numbers and a short hospital film. No dance follows the program.

Funeral Services Held Sunday For A. L. Woods 82
Funeral services for Abram Louis Woods aged 82 were conducted at Katy Methodist Church. He died in his sleep Friday night in a Houston hospital after a two year illness. Born July 16 1870 in West Virginia he married Anna Margaret Tauber December 21 1898 in Mammoth Springs Arkansas. He lived in Katy 22 years as a retired farmer and church member. Survivors include his wife three sons a daughter a sister a brother and 12 grandchildren. Interment followed at Katy Magnolia Cemetery with Schmidt Funeral Home directing.

The 10th Annual Katy F F A Fat Stock Show and All Youth Rodeo will run Friday and Saturday March 27 28 at the Katy show grounds. Livestock and poultry judging on March 27 afternoon features a parade and a 2 pm Saturday sale auction led by Colonel Walter Britten of College Station. Shurbet Completes Advanced Watchmaking Course
Homer D. Shurbet graduates from Houston Technical College Advanced Watchmaking Course after twenty three months of study. He commuted daily from Katy Texas with near perfect attendance and passed the Certified Watchmaker Examination conducted by the Horological Institute of America. The watch timing by the Bureau of Standards exceeded national averages. Shurbet joins local horological societies and plans further work in Katy.
