Trustee election set for Katy ISD April 3
The Katy Independent School District schedules an election on Saturday April 3 to elect two trustees to fill spots one and two. Filing deadline is 3:00 PM Wednesday March 23. Filing forms available in the Administration Building Business Office. Polling at Katy High School and Addicks Elementary. Election officials appointed to run the election.

Bake Sale Saturday at Dube's Benefit Barker Presbyterians

Services Held For Beloved Barker Citizen J. S. Hutchings
J. S. Hutchings 79 of Palestine died Friday night February 5. He moved to Barker in 1939 from De Walt Texas, bought the Barker Store, and stayed until 1964 before moving to Palestine. He served as postmaster until age 70 and retired from groceries in 1962. A charter Mason of Richmond Lodge he held a fifty year pin and was an elder at Barker Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, a daughter Mrs. John Jones of Dallas, another daughter Mrs. Harry Hager of Lyford, two grandchildren and many friends. Funeral was at Bailey Funeral Home Palestine February 7, 1965. burial in Palestine Cemetery.

T. H. McDonald Jr Named Principal of New Katy Junior High
T. H. McDonald Jr was named principal of the new Katy junior high for the 1965 66 term by the Katy School Board. The campus opens in September with about 260 pupils enrolled. McDonald has five years on the Katy faculty and previously taught in Corsicana and Ennis schools. He holds a B S from the University of Texas and a Master’s in school administration from East Texas State College Commerce. The family resides in West Katy and attends First Baptist Church.
