The old river road beside Highway 73 may be restored to ease cotton ginning traffic in the bottom area. Bridges were removed for the project and district engineers agreed to discuss repairs with affected farmers soon.
Louis McCauley was seriously injured in an auto accident in Beaumont early Sunday morning. He remained unconscious for several days, having just recovered from an illness. He was returning from work when his car was hit at an intersection. daily X rays failed to explain the coma until Tuesday when he showed the first outward sign of consciousness.
Union Mrs. Hettie Tompkins of Monaville visited at home. Miss Annie Marie Cooke spent Sunday with her parents Mr and Mrs J D Cooke. Huck Flukinger visited his farm over the weekend. Farmers report eggs 12 to 15 cents per dozen, hens 12 to 14 cents, fryers 14 to 12 cents. John Roane of Houston died at his home Saturday night and was buried Monday in Shiloh cemetery. Rev Will Brumlow officiated.
