Services Held For Mrs Virgil Justman Former Katy Resident
Funeral services for Mrs. Virgil Breedlove Justman were held at Katy Methodist Church with Rev. Gregory Longenbaugh presiding. Interment followed at Katy Magnolia Cemetery under Schmidt Funeral Home direction. Born August 27, 1887 in Mercer Missouri, she moved to Katy with her parents and married William J Justman in 1908. They ran Justman Dry Goods in 1910, later farmed north of Katy, and moved to Mulberry Arkansas after Mr. Justman’s 1951 retirement.

Four Katy Art Students Win Regional Exhibition Honors
Four Katy school artists placed at the Regional Scholastic Art Exhibition held at Foley's Houston. Veronica Orsak showcased a block print of black flies on olive and lemon with black and yellow fill patterns for fabric use. Linda Hill offered an encaustic in mono brown tones of a Notre Dame facade. Charles Waggoner presented magenta and tan tissue collage with india ink of a large grasshopper. Robin Poorman displayed a rice diner key in greens and browns. The exhibit, open to the public, features over 500 works from 7,000 entries and runs through February 13.

The Royal high teams swept last week with the boys at 6 0 in district after wins over Garwood 50 27 and Waelder 60 38. Lyan Gostecnik led in both games with Charles Wilson and Nathan Andrews contributing. Calvin Biurtman earned defensive honors. The girls also won twice to finish 6 0, beating Waelder 61 30 and Garwood 63 27. Carol Bollinger led scoring, with Margaret Jurries close behind.

Waller County residents may buy 1965 model license plates in Brookshire starting Wednesday. New plates use NRC prefix and three letters three numbers and must be attached by April 1. Buyers need title proof and current license receipt plus payment. Also 2300 poll tax receipts issued in Waller County with 98 percent tax paid by Jan 31.

A new Harry Newton Incorporated office opens at the corner of FM 1489 and Highway 90 in Brookshire. The firm holds contracts for the Brazos River bridge, the FM 1469 overpass at I 10, and 22 structures with superintendent Frank Hodges and field accountant Roy Gilmer. Peak workforce will reach about 50, as the company also builds the International Bridge over the Rio Grande at Hidalgo and runs other projects.

Two Injured In Accidents Last Week
Alfred Lentz twenty is reported in good condition at Sam Houston Memorial Hospital after surgery for serious internal injuries from an auto crash on Highway 90 near Katy. He and student nurse Miss Kotar of U of T aided each other. Kotar escaped with minor injuries as the Pontiac caught fire. Lentz may be home in a week and back to Lamar Tech in two weeks. A second incident on Highway 90 in Katy involved Mrs. Raquel Lopez driving a forty one Ford station wagon and Thelma Ike of San Antonio in a separate crash.
