Katy Trustee Election Set for April 1 in Katy ISD

Katy Independent School District to elect two trustees on Saturday April 1 to fill seats No 6 and No 7 held by D E Elder and Hal V Cardiff. England Farm Hit By Thieves Again

Ralph England reports that thieves have again hit their farm and removed a lot of farm tools. A list of the missing items has been reported to the local police. Their farm was burglarized about this time last year and the thieves were caught and prosecuted.

Katy Athletes to be Honored at Dady Club Banquet

Athletes of Katy High School will be honored by the Dady Club on February 18 with a banquet. The feature speaker is Johnny Baker of the Houston Oilers who joined Katy in July as a judge for the Miss Independence beauty contest during the Fourth of July celebration.

Katy Schools Re Elected To Southern Association

The Katy School System has been re elected to membership in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools for 1966 67 after approval by the association's accreditation committee in Louisville Kentucky. All district schools receive accreditation without reservations while the administration faculty and students hail the rating.

Katy Field Gas Sale Aims Near One Billion Dollars

Humble Oil and Refining announces completion of a sale of more than half of its Katy Field natural gas reserves to United Gas Pipe Line and Lone Star Gas, with equal portions to each under 20 year contracts. Remaining gas to be sold within Humble industrial system, all within Texas. A 20 mile pipeline project to link Katy with Houston facilities is planned.

Scout Council honors 14 with Silver Beaver awards

The Sam Houston Area Council dinner at the Rice Hotel salutes the council and unveils 1987 officers. Reported Dog Poisoning Alert in Katy and Field Development

The Katy area reports dog poisoning as a serious hazard and urges residents to call US 2 7887 with dog descriptions or tag numbers. City hires a dog catcher and warns secrecy on caller identity. Separately Pan American Petroleum Corp notes Katy Field in Waller Ft Bend Harris Counties, discovered 1935 with field gas sales plans and $6.3 million first year investment. Initial deliveries expected in fall with field output rising to 890 million cubic feet per day in five years.

Brookshire Baptist Church will dedicate its new sanctuary on February 19, 1967, with services starting mid-December completed. A spring revival follows February 19 to 26 led by Rev Dean Elkins of Central Baptist Church New Orleans with Kent Holder directing the choir. Rev J M Hays is the church pastor.

Katy Jaycees Light Bulb Sale Tonight in Katy

The Tri County Junior Chamber of Commerce offers light bulbs for sale in Katy this Thursday February 2 as part of Light Up Katy. Bulbs cost 8 for $2 and donations fund a Santa Claus visit and future projects. Jaycees will call on residents 7 to 9 p.m. and may visit local businesses on Saturday February 4.

Simonton Post Office Contract Awarded

Congress man Jack Brooks announced in Washington that Boettcher Hlavinka Co of East Bernard won the Simonton Fort Bend County post office contract. The building will be 996 square feet interior plus loading and 6394 square feet parking, cost about 18000 dollars, owned by the company and rented to the Post Office for 1649 dollars yearly under a 10 year lease with 45 year renewal options. The facility will be built on Farm Road 1083 north side and completed by September.
