Baltimore physicians at Maryland General Hospital failed to save a 16 day old infant born with a congenital throat closure. They inserted a rubber tube through a stomach incision to bypass the stricture in an attempt to save the child.
A hotel food expert recounts the origin of the club sandwich and presents variations. It describes a clubman improvising a meal with cold chicken bacon lettuce and mayonnaise on toasted bread. Additional recipes include a bridge luncheon sandwich loaf and a banana sandwich with cream cheese and mayonnaise.
The Brookshire P T A held a sponsor benefit party in the school auditorium last Friday night with bridge forty two and dominoes. A nice crowd attended and funds raised support P T A work valuable to the community.
Miss Mae Buller and Jack Donald were united in marriage on Monday January 21 in Angleton Texas. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Richards with Mr. and Mrs H G Rodeman present. Miss Buller is daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Buller Pattison. Donald is son of Mr and Mrs W F Donald of this city. The Times extends best wishes for their happiness.
The local Boy Scout troop held a Friday afternoon session with nine members present. Rodney Bemus was unanimously elected as troop scribe, and Fred Ebel was absent due to sickness.

The Second Annual Music Festival for South Texas high schools, sponsored by Texas Lutheran College, will be held Friday and Saturday April 27 and 28. Last year drew 1100 entries from over 30 high schools within 200 miles of Seguin. Winners receive cups medals and pennants. Seguin High School won last year’s large sweepstake loving cup. The Seguin Chamber of Commerce offers free lodging and breakfast for contestants staying overnight. Texas Lutheran College performs Friday night and the winners concert closes Saturday with prize awards.

A large group of Pattison school children rode a school bus Tuesday toward Houston to view the film David Copperfield.
Mrs Allie Morrison Smith narrowly escaped with her life when her car stalled on a grade crossing at Katy on the M E & T railroad and was struck by the 6 20 passenger train. She teaches music in Brookshire and abandoned the car just before the crash as it was dragged about 300 yards and completely demolished.
Dr Charles H Harty is expected to address the Southern Agricultural Workers meeting in Atlanta on January 31 with a message of utmost importance to the South. Notables plan to attend the banquet where Herty will speak and radio outlets are arranged to broadcast the remarks.
Announcement this week states Miss Nora Rose married Willard D. Harlow in Houston in December. Miss Rose formerly worked at the local telephone exchange and the couple have the good wishes of many friends.
Waller county cattlemen face a dreary outlook after sub freezing weather tolls herd numbers Monday night. County Agent J. W. Bush notes southeast ranches sheltered storm-driven cattle while harsher northern sections suffer heavier damage due to poor grazing last year. Ranchers warn losses could rise unless temperatures rise soon. Houston Post report dated January 22.
The Marshall Morning News warns that nationwide groups for people over sixty are soliciting initiation fees and ten cent monthly dues to push a pension bill. They claim加入es will yield $200 monthly, a claim labeled false and aimed at aged Negroes. The piece denounces the scheme as fraud and petty thievery.
Misa Doris Avery along with Mrs. R. H. Witte and Mrs. Iyis Rossler and her daughter Jeanne visited Houston on Saturday joining Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Stout in the outing.
