Mr and Mrs Perry Robertson suffered injuries in an auto accident near Hempstead. Mrs Robertson lost three teeth and had a deep lip and chin cut needing 15 stitches. Perry Robertson received minor bruises. They were treated locally and then moved to the Wanders home to recuperate.
Brookshire Independent School District wins a tax foreclosure judgment for 48.55 dollars plus six percent interest, against W D Cooper and Dr EBW Bertner. An order of sale issued November 17 1938 directs the sheriff to seize and sell the defendants property in Waller County to satisfy delinquent taxes and costs.
The Addicks school bond election held August 15 for 40000 dollars was upheld last Wednesday in Houston after attorneys proved one contestant in the suit is not a U.S. citizen. Bonds fund a new school building.
A reconstructed fragment shows a playful exchange where one person claims permission to flirt if the other joined at the shore, while the other clarifies the permission was only for flirting with it. The dialogue hints at miscommunication in a seaside setting.
On December 8 1938 I seized Lots 2 and 3 in Block 36 Kellner townsite Waller County Texas per map Vol 18 page 609 Deeds Records. The property will be sold January 3 1939 at the Hempstead courthouse from 10 AM to 4 PM to the highest cash bidder with rights of redemption and to be sold in divisions if requested. If no bids are received Brookshire Independent School District may bid. F C Blumberg Sheriff Waller County Texas.
Judge AB Anderson reported to the commissioner's court that federal and state funds totaling 1 407 700 dollars were allocated for Waller County road projects. Projects include state highway 78 drainage, highway 142 near Prairie View College, highway 73 bridges over the Brazos river, and feeder roads east of Hempstead. Additional allocations cover topping and engineering on highway 73 to the Fort Bend line, seven miles of feeder road toward state highway 38, and designation of state highway 88 through Waller County expected to ease county maintenance by 1949.
