Brookshire seeks 4 ft lane reduction on FM 359 proposal
Brookshire city secretary D Agopian met Houston with Texas Highway Department official W E Carmichael to discuss narrowing the 60 ft travel width of 0.3 miles of FM 359 to 60 ft from 64 ft. Carmichael doubted acceptance citing eight foot multiples and ordered plotting by the resident engineer for study.

Bernice's Opening Draws Crowds in Brookshire
The new Brookshire clothing shop Bernice's opened Saturday with owner Mrs Louis McCauley praising the event. She spotlighted 17 flower arrangements and plants. prizes went to Hazel Moore first for a skirt Gale Hoskins second for a blouse and Margie Harrison for a dress.

Funeral Services For J. W. Youngblood Held Tuesday
Jacob Webster Youngblood Sr. 73 of Brookshire died Sunday in a Houston hospital. Services were conducted Tuesday in Houston by Rev. J. M. Hayes with burial at Woodlawn Garden of Memories. He was a dairy farmer and member of the First Baptist Church in Brookshire. Survivors include his widow Elizabeth, children Sue Creswell Margaret Dishron Betty Youngblood, and sons Hubert, Robert, Jake Jr., and Ike, plus brothers D. C. Youngblood and R. L. Youngblood, sister Mrs Sneed Coskrey, and seven grandchildren.

Services Held For Mrs. E. Freeman 88
Mrs. Martha Ellen Freeman 88 died at her daughter's home in Houston on Friday August 12. Funeral services were held in Houston Saturday at 4 p.m. with graveside rites at 5:30 p.m. at Katy Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. William Davis officiated. Survivors include two daughters Bessie and Emma, a son Johnny Freeman and stepson W. E. Freeman, plus 19 grandchildren 28 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers included Wallace and Bobby Freeman, W. O. White Clark Norford Newsom and Jimmy Reynolds.
