The Pattison Farm Group met at the school auditorium to discuss tariffs parity and pending farm legislation with G. T. Pattison Jr. presiding and County Agent Bush providing interpretation. Scheduling notes moved meeting nights to the first Tuesday of each month due to data conflicts.
Bids due August 5 for construction of Waller's new school gym and four classroom building. Estimated cost about $20,000.
The Prairie View campus will erect a new steel frame brick building in the southwest area. Construction starts Sept 1 and includes offices for athletic and physical education staff, separate dressing rooms, storage, a regulation basketball court, a 27 by 35 stage, and seating for 1205 as a gym or 2200 as an auditorium.
Merchants contributed toward the premium for the first bale of cotton. Waller County’s first bale of cotton grown by Julius Flores on Hy McKaskin farm near Pattison was ginned at Rhemangin Thursday morning and sold to A G Harrison for 12 cents per pound. The 524 pound bale graded middling. Local businessmen presented Flores a cash bonus. The prize bale was shipped to Houston on Tuesday.

Katy superintendent of schools Mr. Byrom, a longtime vocational agriculture leader in Harrison County, was elected to join the faculty at Robt. E. Lee senior high school in Goose Creek. He will head the new department of vocational agriculture when the expanded high school opens in September. His Katy successor is not yet named.
Myrtle Treatlin of Brookshire is named among academic aristocrats at Sam Houston College Huntsville for the spring semester. She earned four A's and two B's, marking an unusually high record for the term.
Mr and Mrs Elbert Dalton and Mrs Elmer Dalton with their daughter from How spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Warren Cooper in Brookshire.
Local residents and visitors from Corpus Christi spent time with relatives and friends across San Antonio Houston Galveston and Fredericksburg.
