Grand Jury Returns Fifteen Indictments in Waller County

The March term 1929 grand jury reports fifteen indictments, fourteen felonies and one misdemeanor. They inspect the county jail and urge repairs to jail doors, request a $750 raise for the courthouse janitor, and thank court staff for their aid. Foreman E. A. Cooper and Secretary C. H. Court Reconvenes After Four-Week Recess in Hempstead

After a four week recess the district court convened in Hempstead last Monday and continued cases to the next term. The grand jury report was heard and discharged, and the court adjourned until Monday the 29th inst.

Delinquent Tax Notices To Be Mailed In Waller County

Delinquent taxpayers in Waller County will soon receive about 2000 notices from court collectors warning that overdue taxes must be paid or suits will be filed. The back taxes total roughly $90,000 to the county and more to the state, with some debts dating back to 1885.

County Distributor for Pontiac Appointed Here

Mr J F Taylor has been appointed distributor for Pontiac and Oakland cars for Waller County. Dr. Phillips traveled to San Antonio for the week end to visit his sister Mrs. A A Brod and Mrs. A J Brod and Mildred. Mrs Fannie Christophe and children visited a sister's home last Sunday. A A Brod and two sons Ed die Lee and August Jr attended business in Waller Saturday. August Brod Jr. left for Hockley to take a mining job.

R R Bains and family of Bay town visited relatives here last weekend. Jack Freitag visited Houston last Wednesday. Mesdames H Seidel and Loura Roessler visited Addicks on Wednesday afternoon. David Agopian with wife and baby were in Dallas earlier in the week. Several youths attended the dance at Wallis last Wednesday night.
