Unknown Negro Headless Body Found Near Hartman Station
The headless body of a Black man was found on the railroad at Hartman side Sunday morning. Investigation showed he was struck by a southbound train near the section house and dragged under the cars to the pickup point. The bond appears torn off by cross ties, with no identifying marks. Engineers testified they saw the body on track before impact, not sure if alive. The mail car was hitched to the numb, prompting the mail agent to brake down. Reverend W. P. Price resigned as pastor of Brookhaven and Magnolia churches, to serve Magnolia full time in Oct. He has served Brookhaven nearly two years and Magnolia five. Laura Scarborough and Janie, of Bogue Chitto, visited Brookhaven yesterday.
