Thanksgiving services mark town and church farewell
The town plans Thanksgiving Day closings and a morning worship at the Methodist church on the 27th at 11 oclock led by Rev G T Chandler of the Presbyterian church. Congregants will bid farewell to the old church as it is removed, with a collection to benefit Orphans Homes.

Foul Murder at Summit Stuns Mississippi Town
Walter J. McMorris a 28 year old night policeman was murdered in Summit Mississippi. The assailant Will McPhay a light mulatto barber fled after firing point blank at McMorris who shot four times in return before dying. Police, bloodhounds and posses hunted the suspect as crowds denounced the killing and McMorris’s funeral drew a large turnout.

Lincoln County Circuit Court Adjourns After Short November Term
The Lincoln circuit court adjourned last Saturday after a brief November term the shortest in years with 11 days of sessions. The grand jury reported 41 indictments 206 witnesses examined and praised the jail and prison conditions while urging a new up to date jail and improvements to the poor house. Several cases were disposed of including two manslaughter pleas and sentences to the penitentiary and multiple civil actions with mixed outcomes.

False report on rifles sold to Black residents spreads rumor
A countywide report claimed Lincoln and adjoining counties sent coffins filled with Winchester rifles to the negro population. The reply states only four Winchester rifles were sold this season and to white purchasers, adding they do not conceal sales or trail weapons.
