Lincoln Circuit Court last Thursday and Friday heard William G. Francis versus Illinois Central Railroad for 20000 dollars due to a September 1902 injury at a cotton platform project in Bogue Chitto. Jury found for defendant. The trial resumed Monday with Jennie D. Chrisman versus I C R R Co for 5000 dollars after a New Orleans baggage incident. verdict 1250 dollars for plaintiff. Kentwood Train Wreck Kills 32 Injures Dozens
A passenger train crashed into the rear of a local forwards car at Kentwood Louisiana killing 32 people and wounding many others mostly Black workers. The crash occurred around 7 80 PM as Train No 6 failed to heed a signal and plowed into No 32. Coffins were buried hastily as survivors were rushed to New Orleans for treatment. The disaster left a scene of burned bodies and mangled wreckage with officials of the S C assisting the dead and injured.
