Prominent Jones County Man Missing in New Orleans Mardi Gras
Ben T. Easterling a well known Jones County resident aged about fifty disappeared during Mardi Gras in New Orleans and was buried as an unknown. He was later exhumed and identified by some of his local relatives. Death of Longtime Brookhaven Merchant Max Priebatsch
Max Priebatsch, a prominent Brookhaven merchant born in Prussia, died at his home after an extended heart illness. He came to America in the 1860s, built a large business, and was key in founding the local Jewish Temple. His funeral was held at Temple Bnai Sholem with Rabbi I Lewinthal officiating, and a large, diverse congregation paid respects. He leaves a bereaved wife, daughter, and son.
