Brookhaven Leader in Brookhaven, Mississippi

Mississippi Politician and Press Leader Described in Fragmentary Memoir

A long, disjointed historical clipping traces a Natchez native who studied law in Virginia, returned to Mississippi, and rose to political prominence before shifting to journalism. It notes his congressional nomination by the early Democratic convention, his role as a famed orator, a contested election, and later editorial work in Natchez and New Orleans, with digressive anecdotes about contemporaries, headlines, and society remarks.
