Sumner Mississippi July 19 two negro tenants Henry and Will Harris shot from a bush at James Plantation near Swan Lake wounding F E Allen manager and J T Barksdale manager both in a corn field. Revival services at the court house have been ably conducted by Miss Lena Garrett and Rev J Hervey at 4 and 8 oclock. Miss Bell was delayed but expected to arrive on the 19th or 20th. Miss Nannie Wood of Auburn served efficiently as organist. Rev W Hugh Germany, recently leading meetings in Alabama, returns today to lead the song service. Lena Garrett, Meridian Female College graduate, delivers sermons with intelligence spirituality and power. Let nothing hinder you in hearing this talented young woman.
An August Thursday educational rally and picnic at Union invites all teachers and others interested in education. Refreshments will help fund school purchases. A featured speaker will be announced in next week’s paper and readers are cordially invited to attend.
